Facilitating guidance in asset building while still constructing a lasting career in the entertainment industry, Princess founded Artist Bag. Princess developed a financial sustainability program that guides artists in real estate investing to obtain financial wealth.
With a constant positive mindset, Princess continues to be a creative disruptor by advocating for people of color and women, helping them manifest their vision to a pathway of entrepreneurship and investments.

It’s a simple question. Why are you not investing in yourself?
As I grew in the film industry, getting more gigs, more collaborations, more credits, I started to realize I had no financial plan in place for myself. I started to shift my thinking around what am I doing for myself and what will be my financial state in the next ten years. I wanted to level up, start my own production company and build equity that I could leverage later in life. And of course, as an artist, I wanted to be intentional about all of these things. The last few years have been a journey and I can honestly say, it was a great decision to start thinking about myself. No matter where I go or what I do, I will always be a thoughtful advocate for positive change, I just need to include myself, my financial sustainability and my well being in that journey.
Every artist and creative needs to invest in themselves, period.
I want us to be financially secure while our creations continue to impact the world.

This was a room filled with many experienced real estate investors and newbies who were ready to make the leap into investing. This was my first time speaking publicly about real estate investing as a filmmaker. I had no idea there were a few artists in the room. Sharing knowledge is the ultimate gift!
I’ll start by sharing with you how excited I am to help other artists and creatives invest in themselves. I’ve been working in film & television for over 20 years now with a goal to create inspiring works that will positively impact the world. Through this exploratory journey of creating, I recognized there were a lot of underlining harm that many artists face while working in this industry. I trusted my spirit and often spoke up when many would not. I realized that I had a desire to help advocate for people without fear of what would happen to me. My activism allowed me to speak up for folks who were often marginalized due to their gender, ability or race.
The film industry can be as destructive as any other career field. As I navigate this industry as a Black woman, my instincts often lead me to stay grounded in my purpose, align myself with like minded individuals who challenge themselves to a higher purpose of understanding and to live a life that is compassionate to all people. As a creative, I often find myself giving my all to anything I touch and create. This was the case for many years until I had a mental shift.
As an artist, I know first hand how hard I would go to complete a project or help a collective group get to the finish line. After many years of this constant grind, I realized that I had no strong financial plan in place for myself. I decided to do the unthinkable and purchase a property in NYC. It was a harrowing task. It was hands down the hardest thing I ever did. I now own several investment properties as my financial sustainability plan as I continue to create impactful works along my film career journey. It’s not always easy and there are challenges but working in the entertainment industry can be extremely grueling and after years of various gigs we are broke and back to square one financially. At some point you have to ask yourself, what am I doing for me?

Everyone who knows me, knows I love mentoring! I am so excited to be a mentor for this years Black Film Space mentorship program.
Black Film Space is elated to launch their second mentorship cohort which offers emerging filmmakers an opportunity to build relationships and develop their skill set alongside creditable professionals.
The Black Film Space Mentorship Program pairs 10 mentees and 10 mentors together from June 5th to November 22nd, 2024.
Mentees will have (6) 45 minute meetings with their mentor during the program to discuss their work, develop their projects, and careers as it pertains to their short and long term goals.
Mentors will give one round of feedback on the mentees work over the course of the program.
Mentees are selected based on: Quality of work, project goals, personal statement, career objectives and virtual interviews. Mentees must work towards a short term goal over the course of the program.
You must be a Black Film Space member to apply.
